5'9 165ish, I prefer a more tailored cut and have never worn 93 brand. A1L or A2?
I was on the fence about this too. I am the same ht/wt... I bought and A1L for the same reason, but scared it may shrink after wash...
I'm 5'8 / 160, I have just about every 93 (except the bomber and hooks). go with A1 or A1L and wash cold hang dry. most comfortable brand I own.

A2H. I'm 5'9" 200# and have a 93 Brand Hooks 2.0 in A2 that is a bit tight and the kimono won't close all the way.
I'm 5'9 and about 220, what would you recommend?

Yes, still A2H unless you light a very tight gi. At 200#, my Hooks 2.0 in A2 is barely wearable. When I was 215#, it was uncomfortably tight and restricted my upper body movement.
Cheers dude, I usually run an A3 Tatami Estilo and that's a snug but functional fit... I'll give the A2H a crack and see how things go. I would go the A3 but I hear they don't shrink at all so it'll be too long in the arms for me!

Hi guys, I'm 5'9 and around 176. I usually wear A2 but I have long arms and gis always end up being short-armed over time, despite the fact that I cold wash and hang dry. Do you think I could go with the A2L? Pants may be long but I can hem them but worried about the skirt of the gi top.. Will it be too long? Thanks for all your great deals!
Not exactly what you're looking for but I'm 5'10, 175, I bought the 100 kilos in A2 and the sleeves were a bit long on me.
A2 should work fine for ya. I'm about 6'2" and honestly if i cold wash / hang dry, 93brand A2 still fits me, so at 5'9" you should be set regardless of arm length :)
5'5 170, what size should I go with? A2 and get it tailored, ha???
I should add all my other gi are A2s...
93 Gis are quite big. I am 5'7.5", 185, and I fit into an A1 perfectly in this brand. I even have to warm wash a couple times to get it right.
You could rock a2 and shrink as needed. My teammate is your size and does that.
For a more tailored fit you could go a1 like Sean.
