Grips' Secret Weapon 2.0 in navy blue is one slick looking kimono! Exterior trim and embroideries are tastefully done, giving the deep navy finish a classy and refined look while at the same time leaving plenty of room for competitors and teachers to slap some affiliation or sponsor patches.
Their innovative cut is engineered for maximum efficiency, removing all extraneous material in an effort to minimize your opponent's available grips as well as make your Gi's overall weight no more than absolutely necessary. To better achieve the latter goal, Grips uses a breathable CoolMax mesh lining for the shoulder and vent panels, where most companies use a 2nd layer of the thicker and heavier Gi weave. This mesh lining not only reduces your Gi's weight, but it promotes better ventilation due to its breathability. Not to mention it's got beautifully sublimated artwork all over it, so these interior panels add bright splashes of color to your Secret Weapon!
Knee reinforcements are slanted diagonal at their upper edge, maximizing the important coverage areas and minimizing that 2nd layer where it's not needed. CoolMax mesh is also used throughout the knees, which feels outstanding while rolling! Multiple loops are situated at the waist to keep the drawstring firmly in place no matter how hard you're training, while the drawstring itself is a aerated mesh style. This round mesh cord efficiently prevents moisture buildup and subsequently makes tying and untying your pants super easy, no matter how sweaty your roll was.
The Secret Weapon 2.0 arrives packaged in a convenient two-section carry bag, treated to be moisture-wicking and anti-odor. The main compartment is roomy enough to store your Gi, belt, compression shorts, and rashguard, while the front zip-up portion can store your sweaty gear. A ventilated window at the bottom of the front compartment helps air circulate and prevents odor buildup in your sweaty gear during your ride home. Brilliant stuff!

My favorite Gi. I'm 5'8", 175lbs with big chest and arms and the A1 fits me perfectly.
I have this Gi in white. It's gorgeous. It breathes very well. I am 5ft 9 and 185. Because I have a thick chest and back I an A3. The top fits perfect after i shrunk it, but I am going to have to get the pants tailored to get an inch cut off. They are not below my ankles now, but I like them a little bitter shorter anyway.
6'4, 205, Do you think the A3 would be too small?
The A3 would be pushing it, yea, in terms of length. A4 is the way to go, for sure.
6'1" 185#, as usual right in between sizes. With the "tailored" fit of this gi, A2 or A3? If it's any help 93 Brand A2L fits great, Fuji A3 fits funky, Ground Game A3 OK, Tatami Estillo A3 OK. Thanks
STAN - Definitely go A3 and, if needed, shrink it a tiny bit.
I'm 6'2" and 189 lbs, the A2 was juuuuuust too snug for my taste, and I prefer a tailored cut. The A3 was spot on and, after one hot dry cycle, would fit like a glove.
Are navy Gi legal for competition?
I believe they changed the rule this year. IBJJF will only allow white, black and royal blue Gis
Last I checked, yes they are legal. I have not heard about the rule change that @Vinnie mentioned, but I can't confirm or deny it as the only real way to know (their website is vague) is to email them with questions. Which I've just done now.
Budo Videos episode 71 stated new rule 8.1.3 white, black, or royal blue gis only. Navy is no longer legal.
Yup, just looked it up:
8.1.3. - Gis must be of uniform color. The following colors are permissible: white, royal blue or black. Gis with tops and pants of
different colors are not permitted.
I'm about 5'6.5 and weight 155-160 with a 38 or 39" suit jacket size. Should I do an A1 or A2?
a1. the A2 fits me perfect and im 5'9" 175 (42" chest and 73" reach)
Any chance you'll get the Grips Amazona up here before summer?
Can I order a a3 jacket and a2 pants?
I'm afraid not.
Absolutely the best Gi I own! Worth every penny... Definitely an athletic cut. I'm 6' and between 190-200lbs depending on when I'm competing, and an A3 fits me perfectly. If this was a different color, I'd buy another, but I already have the Navy one...
