Get one size above your usual size, runs a little small, but they are great!
So, the sizing says i'm a Large, but sounds like from other buyers it's a better bet to go XL???
Honestly I bought a large and they are fine for me.
What's your weight? The size guide is accurate, but the guide will point you toward a rather snug fit (the waist and length will be appropriate, but the actual compression is on the snug side). If you're like me and you don't like snug compression, you can round up a size. For example, I'm 188 lbs and have thick legs. I have to wear an XL, can't wear a Large. To illustrate what I mean regarding snug compression: I can even wear the 2XL and feel comfortable.
I just bought these for myself. I am 205 lbs so I am on the upper range of the sizes, but I have been continuously dropping weight and cutting so if they don't fit now, they will.

Get one size above your normal size. trust me on this one, and all the others saying the same thing. you need more material for grappling, and your size will fit you skin tight. good for yoga, but not bjj. one up cuz

Bought these before, I sent back the black pair because it had a hole in and the pair they sent me got a hole in pretty quickly. Same thing happened to my friend.

Yes, the mesh in the crotch region tore
The service was excellent, but the spats haven't held up. The blue pair has been fine.
The mesh has been replaced, this model won't have that tearing issue
Would love to try the new version out at no cost. Ill be happy to ship the old version back.

Also I hover anywhere from 180-187 or so. Mid-high 170's when prepping for competition. L or XL? I have a set of Kenka XL and they fit good on my waist and hip area but a bit loose around the calves. Are these of similar fit?
You get one of each. I'm a little lighter than you. 6'0 175. I cut to 169 for comp. The l fits me fine, but are a little short in the calf, so I would go xl.
