Anyone already own a 93 brand gi that can speak to their durability ? feedback on the quality?

I've got the original Hooks and the Mandrill gi. Both are excellent. Hooks I've had for about a year, with zero problems so far (although I've never really run into durability problems with any of my stuff). It's probably the lightest, and definitely the softest gi I have. Minimal shrinkage. Good pants -- again, very soft and light. If that's the sort of thing you're looking for, then go for it.
Personally, I've been really happy with it.

i have the gray goose, mandrill, chocolate charlie and spartan gis... they are the best his I've owned, and that includes 3 shoyorolls, 2 fujis (i know, i know) and 2 breakpoints. just wash cold/cold and hang dry. The A1L is perfect for me (5'8 / 165lb) and has consistently fit to specs, which can't be said of most other companies. If 93 wanted to sponsor me, i'd dance for joy. oh wait, i already own all of their products :-'

I have the grey goose and honestly it's the best gi I've ever owned. I used to love Keiko's but they shrink a lot. I've owned most gi brands. I'm a brown belt so I've been in the game for a while. I can tell you without a doubt that if this gi is made anything like my grey goose then it's top notch. I purchased it....

I got the Hooks jacket on the last rolling deals. It's nice and light which is what I was looking for because the gym can be brutal in the summer months. The collar seems flimsy compared to my Tatami and Fuji. Other than that, it's a good go for the price.

How is 93 brand to thick, but not necessarily tree trunk, thighs? If the top is anything like their rashguards an A2 would fit perfect, I'm just worried about my thighs & hip/butt coverage. (Chief concern: I got an F4 Tatami Honey Badger at easter since it was on sale & looked like it would be fun and sturdy; I fit the A2 chart and pants WxL & the upper end of F4 weight (no measurement chart) and figured F4~A2 for women, so I went with F4. It fits perfectly everywhere except the hip/thigh/butt as it couldn't get up past my knees.)

I'm 5'11 160lbs, bought an A1L and it's the best fit I've found in any gi. Hopefully this helps people decide.

A2L should do the trick, unless you're a bit wider/thicker, then go A3 and shrink if needed.

Is this gi pre-shrunk? Will hot wash and machine drying shrink it a lot?

I am pretty sure there is not a gi on the market that won't shrink if u dry it in a dryer. Some weaves are more prone to shrinkage than others. Like a gold weave will shrink like a mother if u hear it. but the pearl weave shrinks less than any of them, believe why this weave is so popular.

My A2L grey goose shrunk quite a bit, both in the arms and legs, so i sold it to a shorter guy at the gym because of it.
But it was after a 3 day training camp where we would train for a couple hours in the morning then go back and wash it in cold water straight away then i would hang it out in the 40 degree perth sun to dry which only took about 3 hours, then I would go and train again that evening and then wash it again and hang it back outside to dry that night. so 3 days out in the hot sun didn't do it any favors. It probably shrunk at least an inch and because i have long arms and legs it was already pretty much on the limit to start with.
I also have an A2L TAU, I have been really careful with it and only cold wash it and dry it inside. it has probably only shrunk about 10-15mm during the last 7-8months I've had it and is still exceptable in length, though I'm constantly parniod it will shrink more as it is on the limit for me, but really shouldn't after this amount of time (probably worn it around 15 times) and so many washes if i keep doing what I'm doing. It is still one of my favorite gi's, overall fits well and is nice and soft. No real problems with durability, though i did notice a little bit of the material starting to pull away a tiny bit around one of the side split of the top, which I will keep my eye on.
I want to try the hooks gi at some stage as i think it would be pretty good value for money, and will start recommending it to all the new guys as a good choice for a first gi.
But back to hot wash and machine dry, i would be very careful unless it is already a fair bit too long for you. Even then I would start with a cold wash and do short stints in the dryer to begin with just to see how much it starts to shrink.

A1L will be too tight. Get A2 and shrink the sleeves and pant legs to fit or hem it. Width should be fine based on your weight.
