I compete at super hev. Walk around at 230 with 38s usually in reg pants. My CK 38s are tight when I'm off weight but my CK 40s are always loose. I would like to use these to compete in, u think the 36s or the 40?
Do you have other fight shorts aside from CK? If so, which size? (I ask because it sounds like CK isn't a good matchup for ya if 38 is too small but 40 is too big). The 93 Brand shorts are made from an all-around flexible material so they won't restrict your movement like a non-stretchy pair (like the CKs). As a result, these Citizen shorts are very accommodating. Long story short: 38" is my recommendation based on the info you mentioned above.

I ordered these awhile back and let me just say these are my favorite jiu jitsu shorts. well constructed. I liked to say CLASSY not FLASHY :) I will definitely be ordering another pair maybe two today.
