I usually stay away from white colored rashguards because they sometimes look like I'm in a wet T-shirt contest after a good sweat. Anyone know if this rashguard has this "problem"? Tough to tell from our pasty model friend.

They don't get transparent. As for keeping them clean, I only used mine once so couldn't say.

I dig the design but not very appropriate to wear here in Japan after the big tidal wave.

actually a good deal, it's listed at $45 on other reputable websites, not including shipping or tax.
It costs as much as the scramble shorts which are 70 dollars MSRP though. This is more around the ballpark of 45 ish MSRP so I'm not saving as much as I would like, but it is a nice savings. But I already own a couple of rash guards and the purpose of me buying this is merely for its look rather than need... :(
