Compared to the previous 10x5 mats we've sold, these mats have slightly reduced thickness so they're a bit lighter: Each 93brand Mat is 1-3/16" thick. For reference, other mats we've sold (e.g. HQ Mat Co, Fuji) were typically 1-1/4" thick, which is great for full-blown sparring, whereas these new 93brand mats are geared more toward groundwork/drilling/teaching at home, rather than forceful takedowns.93brand offers the two surface options that have proved most popular (Smooth and Tatami) as well as their Komodo Smooth texture... which offers a bit more grip than classic Smooth without quite as much friction as Tatami (in case youre more sensitive to mat burn).
