The unique cotton-canvas "Gold Label" Gi uses a unique shade of marl blue that is in a class of its own.$119
You had me until I saw the big patch on the butt.
Seam ripper might work since it's canvas
Its the “juicy” for jiujitsu gis
One of my favorite Gis to wear, but I got A2L and the sleeves shrunk 3 inches and is too short now. And I always hang dry. Buy one size up for this and the Gotham.
How tall are you? Would you buy an A3?
Were there any changes to the production of this after the first couple of batches? My friend and I bought these separately (A1), at different times, and both of ours shrank to unwearable levels after a single cold wash/hang dry. Fortunately, I was able to return mine; my buddy gifted his to a teammate. I'm tempted to pull the trigger again, this time on an A2 in anticipation of the shrinkage. But I've also seen a number of happy owners of this gi, which suggests to me that they didn't experience the shrinkage issue, which leads me to wonder if my and my friends experience might have been an early prod issue. Would like a little feedback from the 93 guys about which way to go though.
6'1", 170 lb. I assume A2L is ideal, but it's sold out. Would A3 be ok or would be too baggy? Thanks :)
Newbie question (sorry), is this color accepted at most gyms? I know each gym has different rules but what is the general consensus?
Yeah, it should be. Honestly, most gyms accept whatever color gi you want. But in general, black, white, and navy are universally accepted.
This one is a very unique color; I can't speak for "most" gyms, but unless they specifically communicated a gi color standard, you should be OK. Our academy suggests the standard White, Blue and Black; but sometimes people wear Grey, Navy or some other acceptable alternate colors and Professor doesn't mind. What I tell most new students I teach is the following: For your first 1-2 Gis, I would keep it White/Blue or Black. Then if you want to branch out to some alternate colors, it would be safe to do so.
You can never go wrong with a plain white gi. The gyms i have been to arent that strict on colours but i heard that the only gym strict on gi colours (and patches i think) is the mendez brothers gym. Other than that if you wanna compete in the nearby future each tournament association has there own rules and strictest one i know of (ibjjf) accepts white black and royal blue
If there's a kickboxing class on the mats before your class, you can definitely go wrong with a white gi.
You also have to consider the material if you're planning on competing with this gi being your only one. Its canvas. It's not ibjjf legal for competing in because of that. Just a tip to help you out.
There's a YouTube video where Relson Gracie talks about his dad Helio and how traditional he was. He said anything other than a white Gi makes the person look like a clown... I don't necessarily agree, but it depends on how traditional your gym is.
