While i love the hptx shorts, i am more akin to a turtle or a duck on the mats than a lion. This design doesn’t really do it for me. If you’re a fan of the design and looking for good no velcro no gi shorts, these are the way to go though. This style is mu daily wear now

Interesting, I’ve found my experience with the HPLT shorts to be the opposite experience. They’re very lightweight and I don’t even think about or notice them in no gi. The only complaint i would have is that the drawstring has a tendency to get loose threads from getting stuck on the velcro while washing, but that’s on me for being lazy and not closing that before washing. Is that what your issue is with them too? Trying to understand the thread thing so i can avoid it with mine if possible

Im 6’ 215 and the XL is not a compression fit at that size for me. It’s not overly loose like I’m swimming in it, but its not tight either. I’d double check on phalanx’s website as they have a pretty good size checker tool. You entrr your height and weight and it’ll recommend a size and let you know fhe fit. I’m guessing a large would be fine for you

Also PSA, if youre going to buy a phalanx rash guard i would recommend using their size chart on their website to get a recommendation. I followed the one on here for my first one and picked XL. It fits okay but i like more of a compression fit. On their website for my height/weight it recommended a large and they fit perfectly

It’s not as bad as it looks in the pictures. They’re pretty true to size, only downside is velcro and they are a bit on the longer side. They are lightweight and hold up well in no gi though.
