Hey party people. Today on BJJHQ, we switch it up a little bit.
If you're unfamiliar with how "Rolling Deals" works, here's the rundown:
We'll cycle thru products, one at a time, just like we do for our Daily Deal features. However instead of a 24-hour feature, we boil it down to only a few minutes per featured product. Nonstop deals, from now until 11pm EST Saturday night.
Here is the rundown for how the deals will roll:

1] Standard slot is 15min - Products that are fully stocked across all sizes.

2] Blow-out slot is 12min - Products that currently have spotty inventory. If they're very low on stock, typically there are additional price reductions.

3] The clock is a *maximum* duration for the product - Countdown gets wiped out as soon as the product gets to zero inventory.

[e.g. if a product sells out while there is still 4min on the clock... the clock gets wiped out and we automatically roll to the next deal]

Aesthetic 'Floral Dragon' Long-Sleeve Rash Guard

Just some insight / reference on sizing:

- I'm 200 lbs (6'2") and the Large is a good comfortable fit, not overly tight by any means (normally a Large is pretty skin-tight for me, at least when it comes to 93brand, Fuji, Tatami, Scramble, and other major brands).

- Our photographer is 133 lbs (5'5") and normally can rock a Small (tight fit, but comfortable for grappling) or a Medium (relaxed fit, but not unacceptably baggy). For this rashguard, Medium is bigger than you'd generally want for hitting the mats, while the Small is absolutely perfect.

Ok so not every comment has to be purely about BJJ gear, or deep philosophical conversations.. but I think we can all tell when a little trolling becomes a little *too* much. And that point has come and gone today lol. If the comments are just people being mad at each other over other comments, it's not even fun anymore.

Tricky dimensions to choose without seeing your frame, but I'd recommend size XS rather than S.

IMO it's better for your spats to be a tiny bit short, but the proper compression... versus picture perfect length, but too loose.
Also the spats are somewhat generous in length so I wouldnt be too concerned about them being too short if you get XS at 5'8".

Personally I do, in the winter (I hate the cold). But my teammate does the opposite bc they prefer the consistent feel of the compression fabric against the skin rather than the soaked-in-sweat feel of cotton Gi pants.

There's no set schedule, but broadly speaking it's once every 4-7 weeks. We never paid mind to which day of the week, just whatever fit the schedule best. But there was an overwhelmingly obvious preference for Fridays, so we gave the people what they asked for. Pretty much always on Friday (Thurs at 11pm) these days.

MMAHQ is retired. MMAHQ was taking just as much time and effort as BJJHQ, but BJJHQ has a much better following and does much better overall. So we shut MMAHQ down and we're ramping up the focus on BJJHQ. Redesigning the site right now and trying to line up a broader range.

We're also going to breathe some new life into RollMore.com, which has a section for Striking Gear as of now. Goin forward, the striking gear that we *do* stock, will mainly be loaded on there (though we'll sprinkle in some MMA items here and there on Rolling Deals).

In the future, don't wallow in the sadness alone.. send us an email! I dont want anybody to think BJJHQ drops prices at the expense of caring about our sweaty community of mat dwellers; if a package is damaged in transit, we'd ship you free replacements ASAP. All we'd ask for is a photo, so we can file a claim case with UPS (though, to clarify, we dont make customers wait for UPS claim to be resolved).

When did you purchase these? Hopefully the most recent Rolling Deals (the deadline for UPS claims is 60 days after ship date). Shoot us an email [cs@bjjhq.com] with order number and photo if you have it. Feel free to mention that a BJJHQ employee suggested the contact.

Also FWIW: We try to stay on top of this HQ wall, but since it's 24/7 and starts blank every 24hrs, our CS team wont see all comments. Hmm. Def not normal for domestic Gi shipments to take >5 business days. Kitsune Gis shipped to US addresses ship in 1, maybe 2. And then 2-5 more business days depending on how far you are from whichever HQ warehouse we pull inventory from.

Just FYI our lead customer service manager is on vacation week, as am i (Hellooo from the beach), so our remaining CS team is spread a little thin until Monday. But the covering staff knows to give priority to order cancellations / address changes / incorrect or missing shipments (i.e. an email like yours). So my friendly advice is to type "my order is missing" or similar in the email subject.

(international shipments are trickier since occasional Customs holdups are beyond our control)

@Willah - Tiger was a couple days ago yea. As a rule we'll never repeat brands or categories consecutively (e.g. if Sunday is a Tatami Gi, then Monday has to be a non-Gi item *and* a non-Tatami feature, and so in).

Ideally we aim for 3-4 days buffer, but this whole Global Apocalypse Chapter of our lives.. proving to occasionally throw a wrench in expected gear arrivals lol - Feeling the manufacturing backlogs / delays that our vendors have dealt with post-shutdowns (materials & importing from overseas, and serious shortages at domestic textile mills).

It’s a stitched-on patch so it’s fairly easy to pop right off with decent scissors (or a “seam-ripper” which is a handy & cheap tool made for that exact use and has a soft edge so you can zip thru the stitches without risking the sharp area touching the garment).

You could bleach any cotton - itll also bleach the other natural fibers on the gi (like the embroidery threads) but not the synthetic fibers (like the woven labels certain types of stitching). So the coloring in the black/red goose logos might change color from the bleaching process too.

@OkayLetsBJJ - We wouldnt voluntarily buy something to feature on the site if we thought people would be turned off by the specifics. Since our pricing is lower, our margins are thinner, and we rely on repeat business. I.e. our goal is to have those who support us have *more* trust in us after purchasing.

Anyway this product in particular is new, and we got it before Aesthetic did (HQ warehouse and Aesthetic warehouse are continents apart) so our relatively new copywriter didnt have much to work with. Our error for sure.

FWIW: This is actually a pretty nice Gi. I saw it yesterday and it looks sharp. Bag is sweet. Details are clean.

We've had similar thoughts, and there are changes coming to the comment section when we relaunch, definitely. Not planning on making the new comment section based on past expenses (although we are playing with some ideas for some possible perks for repeat/regular cstmrs).

The site redesign is pretty much ready to go, but we underestimated how much time (and money, ouchh) it takes to make the appropriate changes to the mobile apps. Basically had to start both iOS and Android mobile apps from scratch. Pricey but it'll end up with a muuuuch better flow IMO. And much needed aesthetic facelift :) Almost done!
Mostly user experience / visual updates, but there will be some small tweaks to function... 1 of 'em being structuring the comments. Not sure which direction to go with it, exactly. Posting wont be changed drastically, it's just one of several moving pieces to help declutter the layout, smoothen the flow, focus better on the product (img quality / proportions), improving efficiency/utility of comments, & experiments with reviews, comparisons, messaging etc. Hope y'all like the new HQ when it gets here!

I dont think that water discoloration is from main fabrics having been dyed.. These are unbleached.
I’m double-checking, for written confirmation & will report back, but *to clarify* >> this is natural color is not from dye.
I also asked about the water thing you mentioned, but some discoloration could easily be a result of something else. Bleach will affect not only the main fabrics, but any dye used on contrast stitching or a variety of patchwork or inks from direct print being dissolved and diluted, etc

@ OP - confirmed with kitsune, 93brand, & fabric suppliers; these are not dyed at all. That would actually increase the cost of the garment compared to natural non-bleach-treated fabrics.

@ Raise Your Horns - yes there are the 2-packs of "Standard Issue" nogi gear (rashguards, shorts, spats) and they also make 2-packs of their Grappling Underwear and DryTech workout shirts. Also worth noting that they have 2 different styles of shorts, but both of them get high praise from everyone I know who has 'em!

@ Scramfucious - FWIW, the Phalanx gear on BJJHQ is typically exclusive releases, specifically made for us. I.e. Phalanx designs special edition gear for the BJJHQ schedule, which we sell exclusively on BJJHQ. Might be based on something from their site; for example they have a black and grey Lionheart rashguard, so they made a black and dark grey Lionheart themed shorts for us. But the exact item is normally exclusive to BJJHQ and, possibly, then on rollmore.

(rollmore is a regular-price retail site though, so products will usually be on par with the brand's site directly, unless rollmore is running a brief site-wide sale like a 15 or 25% off sale).

We're tryin!
With BJJ's demographic majority dudes (approx 85/15 men/women judging by some analytics on IG/FB users) most brands focus on those fits, BUT we always bring it up when talking to our vendors about upcoming HQ orders & always request availability for both sexes - even if only for the HQ drop.

Womens Gis are done a lot, but if a vendor doesnt already offer a womens nogo option for a style we're ordering, we're kind stuck until they make the decisions / engineer the right fit / balance the quantities to manufacture. Lotta times they only offer a separate option for women (like a pink trim thing).
Good news however. . .

We've had more success w/brands obliging lately, 'n letting us order both cuts.
Recently got Phalanx on board w/making their HQ release spats in womens, hopefully other nogi to come. Inverted Gear also often down to add womens to HQ bathes. 93brand offers womens on almost everything, Kitsune as well.
Others are gradually down for it, e.g. this week's grey HQ exclusive Scramble Gi was a first re:womens option. Other staple brands have options in the pipeline too.
We're gonna keep tryin :)

Is it an older style? The first generation Standard Issue was nylon/spandex so it wasn't as stretchy, but as of the last 2 colorways it's the same fabric composition as their premium rashguards (just not sublimated graphics and slightly lower grams per square meter)

Details we're entertaining:

Homepage would still have the main comments section, displaying a thread specific to that day's product... which would be archived and locked once the deal ends. Each product's thread would be archived in a searchable reddit-esque forum section.
Top "stickied" thread would always be the current day's thread (same as the homepage thread) - along with 1 or 2 useful stickied threads like "Product Requests/Suggestions" and "Fit Advice" (for which brand/size works for different body types). HQ admins would monitor and help throughout the day.

Could help filter out unwanted content / identify useful content...

We hit some roadblocks in perfecting the new site / app, one of which being an automated index of past items during Rolling Deals, w/some sort of analytics included. But the comment thread *is* part of the fun.

365 days in a year, J Gunz! We have Gis, rashguards, shorts, and spats as staples in the weekly rotation. But we sprinkle in tees, gear bags, joggers, hoodies, soap, home roll-out mats, and other stuff.

Speaking of non-training equipment, what is something that HQ peoples would want to see show up on BJJHQ? We've been approached by some less conventional BJJ businesses that we've considered.
What would you say to local coffee roasters within the BJJ world? It's been a while since we did any supplements... which supps would you guys want to see? Pre-workout VS creatine VS recovery supps etc.

@BadAtBJJ - i hear you on the Rolling Deals suggestion. We'd love to run them more often as well, but it is a balancing act to get them going any sooner than every 5-6 weeks. We've got to accumulate sufficient random gear which we'll reduce further and blow-out during RD, and we've got to stock up new / surprise goodies so it isn't a bore-fest. We spend the week leading up to R.D. arranging a collection of 80-90 products, so if we increase frequency then we have to decrease variety etc.

But FWIW: Rolling Deals planned for this coming Friday. Will include some new Kitsune Kimonos drops, new gear bags, some requested 93brand restocks, brand new Tatami nogi, and the last stretch of our current home roll-out mat inventory until we get another batch in.

Thx for feedback. We've sold 5packs of 93brand athletic tape before and it did pretty well. Will see if that's being restocked and if so we'll move on it. It's tricky to get finger tape and mouthguards because theyre such small margin items that it becomes very tough to stay within the "Deal" part of our "Daily Deals" - know what i mean? Same with belts. Pretty close to standard sizing if you ask me. I'm 6'2" 195 lbs and the Large fits just fine. Although after a girl stole it, we only had XLs left and now i wear that, which also fits fine. Just a bit more relaxed.

BTW to answer a question i saw on the RD wall about when products cycle back, here's a glimpse into how it works:

We put together at least 80 products and they start off on their 12 or 20min clock. Once it cycles thru each of the 80 products, the list starts back at the top of the list (usually takes 12-14 hours to reset back at the top) and cycles thru again while skipping any low-stock blowouts that fully sold out during their first slot.

Kitsune has two models: Cursive and Cursive LITE. The former is their heaviest Gi ever and the latter is lighter than even the premium 350GSM Gis like today's Bloom Gi. More toned down trim, no carry bag, no mesh paneling. New Cursive Lite models coming before Spring is over :

Agreed that the fabrics on the Lite are uniquely textured. Jacket is similar to Hyperfly's StarLyte, pants are a new one we'd never seen before... sorta hybrid of a very light Pearl Weave / Ripstop. I'll be suggesting they change the name to Thermal Waffley Goodness Weave.

93brand noticed a drop in quality back then and stopped using their former Standard Issue Shorts factory / opting to begin manufacturing the Standard Shorts in the same factory as their regular sublimated premium shorts.
i.e. as of late 2019 the Standard shorts became the same build as their premium shorts (bettter fabric and construction, only with no sublimated patterns).

Correct, Mr. Sanity. The layout is:
1] Standard slot is 15min - Products that are fully stocked across all sizes.
2] Blow-out slot is 12min - Products that currently have spotty inventory. If they're very low on stock, typically there are additional price reductions.
3] The clock is a *maximum* duration for the product - Countdown gets wiped out as soon as the product gets to zero inventory.

Meaning: If a product sells out and there are 2min left... we automatically roll to the next deal (this is the one thing stopping us from having set debut times for each product since we cant predict when a given item could sell out completely).

Male model is 155 wearing a Medium (5'11") and personally at 6'2" 185 lbs the large fit just fine with a smooth compression fit. Now bumped up to 195-200, i tend to prefer 93brand's XL instead - granted there's room to pack on a few more LBS (dont challenge me.. i'll fkn do it!)

Back in the day when the Standard Issue rashguard sets were nylon/spandex to keep the price down as it's less expensive (and feels more synthetic / can't be sublimated) they definitely were a snug fit. But 93br changed these S.I. rashies to match the fabric composition (no more nylon) and panel cut to mimic their sublimated/premium rashies.

@OP - whats your height/weight when the Large was too snug? I'm surprised to hear someone inside that 25 lbs range found the fit to be too snug! Possible a mis-labeling issue, I'm wondering. These are popular and sell extremely well so there are often 1,000 units moving in a single HQ sale so even with very low QC issues, there might be a sizing snafu and if you were subject to such a travesty, I'd like to make it right and send proper size.

Personal preference. Grandmaster Helio never formally codified any protocol for rashguard tuckery. It is permitted for rashguard hem to be sandwiched between one's trunks and one's under garment, or fully tucked to the core, or even forego all tuckage and display the hem of your rashguard atop your trunks for all to admire.

You’ll typically see something from each primary category make at least one appearance per week.

Main categories for daily deals being:
Gis, rashguards, shorts, gear bags, miscellaneous apparel items, compression gear.

General rules are we avoid repeating the same brand or category back-to-back - typically at least 2 days before a given day’s brand and style repeat. E.G. if today is a Fuji Gear Bag, tmrw and the next day won’t be anything from Fuji and won’t be a gear bag.

The reliability of international shipping has plummeted lately - and while USPS doesnt reimburse us for lost packages, we are morally obligated to reimburse our customer in full (product & shipping). So on a cheap Gi where we’re already taking an L, its an added risk of paying $40-50 for non-US/non-Canada shipping and then having to refund customer (for both product and shipping), ending up with lost merchandise *and* a frustrated customer.
We do worldwide for nogi, apparel, and some Gis.
Mats are USA contiguous states only.
Gis are typically 50 states and Canada.
We dont intend to keep Gis restricted to North America indefinitely, so its subject to change in the future & we hope we figure out the better setup sooner than later. Sorry mate!

Next best thing, which some HQ shoppers do, is use a freight forwarder. Has its own risks but its an option.
(Full disclosure: We do have extra security precautions for orders placed if theyre going to known freight forwarder addressed)

@TRUSTREET - the panda’s belt is black on the white colorway as well. I wouldnt say such a small detail on the overall garment is gonna lead anyone to think youre flexing as if youre another rank. Maybe in the future BJJ Stolen Valor channels will be a youtube thing but for now, we’re good.

Got in a boatload yesterday and we’re getting the overdue orders filled ASAP. Big apologies for the delay, there was a miscommunication on the arrival of our batches and we banked on them arriving the day of the last Rolling Deals. Our mistake (and we’ll avoid relying on expected arrivals in the future) - we posted an update on IG and FB a few days ago but this sums it up, along with a discount offer for those who have been patiently awaiting the late soap orders. The mens cut is a little longer in the torso and a little longer in the sleeves. The women's cut tapers more around the mid-waist area and has slightly narrower shoulders. IMO yes sizing down one notch for men's should suffice. e.g. if you're a womens Small then a Mens XS should be alright :)

I know at least one of the Flow Gis for today had 10 units of A1L, btw (Alpine Pro 2.6)
The Feather 3.0 Grey had stock for all sizes except A1L and A2H and A4.
The Alpine Pro 2.1 White had stock for:
a1, a2, a2L (only 4 units), a3, a3L (only 1 unit), a4 (only 2 units).

Alpine Pro 2.6 and Feather 3.0 are both in todays rotation. You missed them already, but the rotation will repeat at *approximately* 4:15pm. Youll know the rotation has restarted when you see 1. Progress M6 Peach Gi, 2. Kitsune BLOOM Shorts, 3. HQ Mats, 4. Armbar Soap….
The Flow Gis original slots were:
Alpine: #14 Feather: #28

Keep in mind we skip any item that sold out during its first run last night, so they may end up being 1 or 2 slots earlier than 14 and 28 on the repeat go-around. Hope that helps!
