They actually really need some photo of guys wearing these to show how they look when worn, probably a few different guys of various skin colors. We all know how white, blue, black and royal blue look but this is an odd color.

A justification for a black gi is dirty mats. The place I used to roll had old mats that turned my white gi black anyway. If the mats are clean and new, get a white gi.

Another aspect is washing. I wash my gi the moment I get home but I throw in other stuff with it. If you have lots of dark socks, undies, tee shirts etc, get a gi that you can wash with them. Having a mix of lights, darks and mediums allows you to not just wash your gi on its own. Makes my wife very happy because I wash most of my own clothes now.

Tatami has better grip when there's sweat on it but you get more mat burn from it. Ya pays yer munny and ya takes yer choice. I guess there won't be too much standup unless you are buying about 8 of them so smooth might be the thing.
